Launched a state of the art technology; Liquid Based Cytology (LBC) for early cancer diagnosis, Thin Prep system) in pathology at the first time  in Turkey:

Conducted extensive market research to asses the market potential for the product. Participated in congress, symposiums and seminars as a presenter.  Organized pilot studies and demonstrations & presented seminars in the Pathology and Gynaecology departments of major University Hospitals and private laboratories all over Turkey. Organized the meetings on the subject with expert attendees from all over the country.

Conducted application for The Ministry of Health and Union of Physicians for the acceptance of the Liquid Based Cytology method. The method was approved by both organizations and included on the reimbursement price list. Organized and implemented training programs and seminars for sales representatives and distributor companies. Established the product at potential reference medical centers with great sales /growth potentials

Thin Prep  and LBC technology  has become a large sector in the market.

1995-1997 Research Specialist, University of Virginia Health Sciences Center, USA

Worked on project involving cloning and expression of Metalloproteinase-Disintegrin Like-Cysteine rich (MDC) gene from human melanoma cancer cells. Determined that MDC could be a potential protein that takes significant role in the consequence of melanoma cancer cells adhesion to the healthy fibroblast cells. The research was reported in American Cancer Society Symposium in Virginia Division in 1996 and later published by my supervisor Professor J. Fox.

1990-1993 Research Assistant, Drexel University, Dept.of Biotechnology, Philadelphia - PA, USA

Purified and biochemically characterized a peptidase enzyme from yeast and elucidated its relatedness to previously determined enzyme, using specific antibodies. Determined that the enzyme does not exist in yeast as an inactive state and it follows fate of activities that are previously unknown. Disproved the results of previously published two scientific articles and, as a consequence, a PhD thesis work.

1986 - 1988 Reseaarch Assistant, TUBITAK-Marmara Research Institute, Gebze, Kocaeli, Turkey

Worked on fermentative production and purification of intracellular penicillin amylase enzyme from Escherichia coli bacterium. Developed highly productive mutant bacteria, which had a capability of producing penicillin acylase enzyme several fold greater. Based on this discovery, published a scientific article. Following development of this mutant bacteria, numerous studies have been made and published later by my supervisor and  our microbiology group  in the Institute.

1983-1986   Research Assistant, Ankara University, Faculty of Agriculture / Tubitak, Ankara, Turkey

Isolated and identified insecticidal bacterial microorganisms known as Bacillus thuringiensis (B.ti), which is accepted worldwide as one of the most potential biological insecticidal agent in crop protection, from environment. Isolated bacteriophages specific to new insecticidal B.ti bacterial strains.
